Scorpions in Mesa

Scorpions belong to the order of Scorpiones and are predatory arachnids. Like spiders, all arachnids have eight legs. Dissimilar to spiders, scorpions have an arched segmented tail, and a set of crab-like claws called pedipalps. Looking at different scorpion species, it may seem that all scorpions are nearly the same, only difference being their size and color, but that would be an err in judgment. Families of scorpions are unique, including the freakishly-looking family of whip scorpions. All scorpions have a lethal sting, but generally, scorpions do not present a critical threat to humans.

Healthy adults who happen to be stung do not need medical treatment. Within the cuticle of scorpions contains fluorescent composition, which glows a vibrant turquoise color when lit up by wavelengths of ultraviolet light such as that produced by a black light.
