Scorpions in Corpus Christi

Scorpions are predatory arachnids in the order Scorpiones. Like all arachnids, for instance, spiders, they have eight legs. Unlike spiders, scorpions have a distinctive tail, and a pair of crab-like pinchers called pedipalps. You might think that all scorpions are predominantly the same, only varying in size and color, but that is not the case. Many families of scorpions are quite different, including the unusual-looking family of whip scorpions.

After a healthy adult has been stung, it is doubtful they would need medical treatment. Due to the presence of fluorescent chemicals in the scorpion’s cuticle when they are exposed to wavelengths of ultraviolet light, such as that produced by a black light, they glow a brilliant blue-green.
