Scorpions in Alpharetta

Scorpions are predatory arachnids in the order Scorpiones. All arachnids, like spiders, have eight legs. Unlike spiders, they have that recognizable segmented tail, and a pair of crab-like pinchers called pedipalps. You might think that all scorpions are necessarily the same, only differing in size and color, but that is far from the truth. Some families of scorpions are different, including the horrid-looking family of whip scorpions. All scorpions have a poisonous sting, but the vast majority of the species do not represent a serious threat to humans.

In most cases, healthy adults do not need any medical treatment after being stung. Scorpions shine a vibrant blue-green when revealed to ultraviolet light such as that produced by a black light, due to the presence of fluorescent chemicals in the cuticle.
